The B2B tool is a web platform through which businesses looking to gather up-to-date contact information such as phone numbers, emails and addresses of specific target consumers can do so in bulk and within minutes by simply uploading a spreadsheet containing the names and/or addresses of their targets, and then downloading a results file which contains the enhanced data. Currently, users pay using a credit system, purchasing credits ahead of time and then using them over-time as they perform their searches.

Why are you selling the business?

We do not have the capital to properly market and grow the business.

What is included in the sale?

Domain, administrative portal credentials, all code powering our software, the underlying bulk pricing contract with our data provider, contract with our software developers ($40/hr), existing documentation, CRM access (currently using high-level), sendgrid account, existing art and marketing materials, brand, and existing videos. One month of advisory support from me (duration negotiable). White label builder included (you can sell our solution to others under their own brand!).

What is the technological stack?

Servers and Database hosted on digital ocean. Website built using React, javascript, with connections to Facebook pixel, google, using Stripe as a payment portal, built in integration with calendly (customizable through admin portal), first promoter, and jivochat as a help chat.

What actions are required to keep the business working?

Monthly payments must be made to our wholesale data provider for any searches that are made. Minding the help chat on jivochat helps with user retention. Paying the monthly bills for the servers and software stack. Our bare-bones operating costs are currently about $700 a month.

How does your business make money?

Users purchase credits that they can use to perform their searches.

What marketing initiatives have been used for this business?

Word of mouth, and google ads.

How can the future owner improve this business?

We never had the money to hire a sales force or implement any sort of follow up sequencing for user retention. If we had the capital this is what I would do:

  1. Implement single search function (currently users must submit their data using an excel or csv file, which works great for most of our users who have bulk data, but makes it difficult for our smaller users that perform smaller searches.
  2. Change pricing structure to include a lower pricing tier that is accessible through a monthly subscription.
  3. Invest in building an API for our website (quoted at $3,500) so users can access our functions remotely.
  4. Implement follow up sequences for new users.
  5. Hire at least one sales person to acquire new customers
  6. Implement Facebook, IG, google ads, and LinkedIn marketing.
  7. Build sales pipeline
  8. Have someone that immediately texts or calls users when they first sign up to help close the sale.
